LionStrike, is a team established between GM Defense, BAE Systems, and NP Aerospace to offer the UK Ministry of Defence a mobility solution to rapidly modernise its ground vehicle fleet. Team Lionstrike will also address broader opportunities across NATO and allied nations.
Team LionStrike will offer a combination of GM Defense’s world class vehicle portfolio, including commercial trucks, sport utility vehicles and their flagship Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Land Mobility Programme. The Programme seeks to replace an aging fleet of military vehicles, with a focus on enhancing operational capabilities and cost efficiency.
Team LionStrike will deliver economic growth in support of the Land Industrial Strategy, while creating significant export potential and building a sustainable UK supply chain and delivery ecosystem.
Team Roles
Key roles of LionStrike team members include:
- GM Defense – provides the proven vehicle platforms, drawing on high-volume automotive engineering and manufacturing expertise to deliver reliable, scalable mobility solutions.
- BAE Systems – delivers military systems integration, enhancing and upgrading the vehicles with mission systems and capabilities to meet operational requirements.
- NP Aerospace – the UK design authority, leading vehicle integration and ensuring the platforms are engineered, supported and sustained to meet the operational requirements of the British Army.
The Vehicles
Team LionStrike is offering three proven, Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) light and utility military vehicles as part of its proposal for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Land Mobility Programme:
- GSUP – based on the Chevrolet S10 Work Truck, delivering capacity for 4 crew, flexible and modular cab/utility configurations, 207HP diesel, and a payload of 1116 kg.
- Silverado 1500 ZR2 – a light duty, more powerful variant delivering capacity for 5 crew, flexible and modular cab/utility configurations, 305HP diesel, and payload of 705kg.
- Infantry Squad Vehicle – Utility (ISV-U) – based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 platform, delivering capacity for up to 5 crew, open-top utility and tactical configurations.
