NP Aerospace has developed a new generation of women’s body armour to address a long-standing gap in personal protection.
Built on UK-based design, testing, and manufacturing capability, our solutions improve ballistic coverage, fit, and operational performance for female personnel operating in high-risk environments.
Closing the Protection Gap
Industry-standard hard body armour does not provide equal protection for female service personnel. Plates designed around male body geometry create coverage gaps when worn by women.
Our modelling shows that a female-contoured curved hard armour plate delivers over 10% greater average ballistic coverage across all threat angles, with improvements of up to ~40% in certain scenarios, compared to standard ESAPI plates.
This translates directly into improved survivability, mobility, and combat effectiveness.
Our Solutions
Women’s Hard Armour Plates
NP Aerospace has developed a range of curved hard armour plates specifically optimised for female morphology.
- Three plate sizes (XS, SM, MD) and three curvature profiles (C1, C2, C3)
- Nine configurations to cover >95% of servicewomen
- Protection against both rifle and armour-piercing threats
- Developed using 2024 UK anthropometric data
- Fully tested at our ISO:17025 accredited UK ballistic facility
Women’s Armour System
Effective protection for female service personnel requires a system designed from the ground up. Hard armour, soft armour and carrier geometry must work together to ensure fit, coverage and mobility.
To demonstrate this system approach, NP Aerospace has partnered with Logistik Unicorp to develop a complete women’s armour system for operational use, combining:
- Women-specific carrier (Logistik Unicorp)
- Women-specific soft armour (NP Aerospace)
- Curved hard armour plates (NP Aerospace)
The system is designed to optimise fit and ballistic coverage, with a sizing approach that fits more than 95% of servicewomen.
NP Aerospace hard and soft armour solutions can also be integrated into alternative and existing in-service carrier platforms, providing flexibility for different user requirements.
